Sugar Cubes

First off, I would like to thank everyone for their comments! It is great to hear from you all and I was sincerely touched by your thoughtful words. Since my last post was pretty heavy and today is Friday, I wanted to talk about something fun…

Everyone has them. Even when we don’t think that we have a hobby or that we’re not good at doing anything special, we’re wrong. WE ARE ALL SPECIAL AND HAVE OUR OWN HOBBIES.  So that’s that.  But seriously, I want to talk about how awesome hobbies are.

  1. WHAT IS A HOBBY, TAYLOR? Well, Google defines a hobby as follows: an activity done regularly in one’s leisure time for pleasure OR a small horse/pony.  The pony thing is interesting but we’ll talk about ponies at another time… Anyways, a hobby is just as Google defined it, an activity done for PLEASURE! PLEASURE, PEOPLE! How exciting is that?!
  2. HOBBIES ROCK.  How awesome is it to do something that makes you happy? I mean isn’t happiness what we all desire? I didn’t eat that entire pint of Chocolate Ice Cream for sustenance… I did it because it makes me happy! And that’s what hobbies should do, make us happy! Even if our hobbies are small they bring us joy and they are very important, which leads me to my next point…
  3. HOBBIES ARE IMPORTANT. They are.  That’s that.
  4. The best thing: HOBBIES ARE ALL OURS. That’s right people, no one can take away our hobbies. Sure the local pool might close but that doesn’t mean you can’t swim anymore!  We can choose to share our hobbies or keep them to ourselves but at the end of the day they are always ours.

My challenge to all of US is to find a new hobby.  It doesn’t have to be expensive or extravagant but something new.  So often we get in these zombie like routines that leave us bored, and boredom can be dangerous! So try something new. The best part about finding a new hobby is through trial and error we get to learn more about who we are. And that is really important!

I love to bake but I noticed that I was always making the same things.  Things I knew how to make well and that were quick and easy but I have decided to try new recipes that are more challenging than just whipping chocolate chip cookies together.  I will post a picture the next time I try a new recipe! I have also started knitting… I don’t know how that will go but it has been fun to try!

Lastly, pass the sugar and share new hobbies with us!
